Symphony of the Hills: A Time to Soar – The Planets at Cailloux Theater

Symphony of the Hills presents A Time to Soar – The Planets on April 30, 2026 at 7 pm, marking the final concert of the 2025–26 season. This performance brings together powerful orchestral works and a multimedia experience in an evening of music and exploration.

The program opens with the iconic fanfare from Also Sprach Zarathustra by Richard Strauss, widely recognized as the theme from the film 2001: A Space Odyssey. The concert also features Rod Leonard as bass trombone soloist performing Ian Deterling’s Concerto for Bass Trombone No. 1 in D Minor, followed by a special presentation of The Planets by Gustav Holst, enhanced with multimedia elements, a women’s chorus, and an introduction by guest speaker Kim Arvidsson.
