A West of Her Own: American Women Artists at The Museum of Western Art

The Museum of Western Art will present “A West of Her Own: American Women Artists” in the Main Gallery from January 16 through April 17, 2027. The exhibition celebrates the heritage of the American West and the contributions of women artists working in the Western genre.

American Women Artists was founded in Tucson, Arizona, by a group of women artists focused on Western art. Over more than three decades, the organization has grown to serve more than 1,000 artists annually across the United States and Canada, with exhibitions showcasing a wide range of artistic styles.

The exhibition will honor the organization’s roots and its masters of the Western genre while highlighting works by Associate and Associate with Distinction members. It will also feature works from the museum’s permanent collection.
